HOW THE DESIGN PROCESS WORKS

1. Initial Brief

MEET; The first part of the design process is to meet the client at the job site to do a walkthrough and get to know one another.

YOUR LIFE STYLE; We learn about your family, your pets, things you do in your house, things you like, things you don’t like. We need to understand the way you live your life in order to create a personal design that’s for you and your family.

YOUR VISION; Our job is to transform your vision into a reality.  We ask you to search for images and write comments about things that you like or dislike about the images. You may also find inspirational images in magazines or on the internet.

BUDGET; One key part of the strategic planning is to understand your goals and budget. The bottom line is to deliver a design with your budget in mind that you are able to execute.

MEASUREMENTS; Many times homes don’t have floor plans, or the floor plans are old and hand drafted. Either way, we may use your existing floor plans, or create new plans from the ground up by field measuring all the spaces of your home. We sketch a new plan with the dimensions; then we draft the sketches on computer software and create a set of new digital floor plans.

EXISTING PIECES; If you have any existing pieces that you want to reuse, we will need the pictures and sizes of each item.

TIME LINE; What is your time line to complete this project?

2. Space Planning

I know a space plan isn’t so vibrant or colorful, but it’s one of the most important aspects of a well-designed and functional room — it creates the overall flow for the ways you’ll use it, be it your daily routine, entertaining, even holiday events.

Once the requirements for the project are set, we’ll begin space planning, which includes the overall room layout, furnishing scales, and placement.

FLOOR PLAN OPTIONS; We will provide few different floor plan options for the same room, so that we can discuss which one works and feels better for you.

ADJUSTMENTS ON THE PLANS; If you need some changes on the plans no worries, we will work together and find the best floor plan works well with your needs.

3. Conceptual Design

This is the stage all the style ideas, colors, textures, furniture looks getting together.

We’ll share our design concepts for each room, including color schemes, finishes, textures and overall aesthetic. Once we receive your approval, we’ll finalize the concept and start bringing it to life.

It’s important to remember that in this phase, the images we show you are just conceptual for inspiration, and not actually the items that we will specify for your home.

  • LOOK & FEEL OPTIONS; You will receive few different look & feel options that will give you idea about the color scheme and furniture style of the project.

4. Design Development

Depending on your preferred color/style direction, plus the feedback we take from you, and then we get into the creative process.

We select furniture, fixtures, materials, including finishes, flooring, tile, wood pieces, etc., that are part of the design theme for the client. We update floor plans using the actual sizes of the selected pieces.Create detailed drawings, wall elevations showing the new look of every wall, and any other visual aids that we deem necessary to illustrate the design plan.

  • OPTIONS FOR EACH ITEM; We will provide few options for each item within your budget and will work tiredlessly until we found the one works just perfect!

  • FINALIZE THE FURNITURE SELECTIONS; After getting all the pieces right, we will prepare you a shopping list.

  • SELECTING FINISHES; We will specify wall colors, carpet selections, wood, stone finishes...etc.

  • DETAIL DRAWINGS; We will provide additional drawings to show fixture locations, custom build furniture drawings, fabric selections... etc.
